Fantastic. Proof that if you hang on the labour gravy train long enough you get the top jobby.

I'd like to point out that for her "councillor work" she got paid a princely sum of £24,504 - in "allowances" in 2012-2013 (they don't say expenses anymore at BMBC) Also bear in mind that she works for the council so like many others she will have been paid twice for attending some meetings as is common for houghton, miller et al.

Interesting comment Gavelar, as looking into this further she is not employed by the Council in any other job apart from her role as a Councillor. This is also the case for other Councillors (bit different for Houghton being leader of the Council, obviously).

.on I thought she was so I stand corrected. Still 25k for a part-time voluntary role I still stand by my comment about the gravy train.

I hope they have a zipper for her mouth she is gaffe prone but that'ts the standard you get at BMBC these days. You pay the going rate according to our dear leader.

Don't think you can stand as a councillor if you work for the council as it's conflict of interest - or at least you can't stand in the same town / city that you work.

The Mayors job is her reward for not contesting Dan Jarvis for the MP's job. Labour always look after their own.!

You are such a comedian.
Next you'll be asking for the police and crime commissioner to come from the pikey community.
Maybe replace sir Steve with an upstanding member of our Eastern European community.
Or even head of Barnsley tourism to be elected from the local characters in peel square.
Where will it end my dear friend????????
Answers on a postcard.
