LOCALS are being invited to a special concert to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.

The Mayor of Barnsley, Coun Linda Burgess, will lead the community at St Mary’s Parish Church from 7pm on Saturday, June 11.

The evening will feature performances reflecting the Queen’s 64 years reign from The Yorkshire Military Band and Barnsley U3As choir.

Mayor Elect Coun Linda Burgess said: “I’m honoured to be leading the Queen’s 90th birthday concert and sure the evening will promise to be entertaining, all the proceeds for the tickets will go towards the upkeep of St Mary’s Church.”

St Mary’s Parish Church, The Rev Canon Stephen Race added: “The church is at the heart of the community and we look forward to celebrating this joyous occasion with the local people of Barnsley.”

Linda Burgess is the new mayor, proof that if you hang onto the labour coat tails long enough you get to be mayor.

The woman that said ' There's an increasing confidence in Barnsley town centre as a retail destination' 3 years ago. Where are the new shops linda love?

she also said "it doesnt matter, there are plenty of other jobs in town" when Parkside at Darton shut. When there weren't.

In 2012 she said "We have high profile names such as Debenhams, H&M and Odeon signed up to the project already," When asked about the towncentre development when they weren't.

These are a couple of things this calamatous woman has been involved in now she presides over the nodding donkeys at bmbc meetings. Mind you I'm starting to think we deserve it. We had a chance at shifting some of the crap out in the local elections and Barnsley did what it always did. blindly voted red.

Gavelar, her exact words were as follows "their are plenty of other job opportunities and it isn't the end of the world" when it was announced that Parkside at Darton was set to close with the loss of over 400 jobs.

Last time Jarvis (Highly decorated former sergeant major in the elite parachute regiment who resigned his post to become "career" Labour MP for Barnsley Central) came round canvassing she was instructed to "go on ahead and butter people up" I was caught unawares and disnt catch her name at first, was only when I started conversing with her that the penny dropped and I told her in no certain terms to get the f*ck off my property and being a former Parkside employee threw her venomous comments about me and my former work mates straight back at her.

All the sheep voted labour again!! So we stuck until nxt election with the reds!! When are people going to learn? I wouldn't attend anything labour related, I would rather stick pins in my eyes! And certainly wouldn't attend anything remotely connected with the present Buck house incumbents. Pack it in and give the younger royals a chance.
