Work will begin this month Work will begin this month

WORK will start on changes to the Birdwell interchange roundabout this month.

The council has announced that the roundabout will be subject to changes in an attempt to ease traffic congestion in the area.

Some trees around the existing roundabout have been cut back in preparation for the work.

Barnsley Council has now confirmed that funding for the project has been signed off, with work due to start this month.

It is unclear how long the project will last.

So glad that highways wasted so much money messing up the motorway roundabout which has caused the problem in the first place.

I assume you mean the Highways Agency when you say 'highways'. The Council didn't install anything on the motorway junction.

Matters are not helped with traffic trying to do right hand turns to get into & out of the Aldi supermarket at peak traffic hours especially at tea time.

I wonder if this was considered by the Council when planning consent was given?

I'm sure when Aldu first applied theur application included a set of traffic lights or some form of traffic control for that very reason

If people drove according to the highway code (i.e. not blocking side roads or junctions), the issue would not occur. Instead drivers stay bumper to bumper refusing to let anyone in or out. Drivers being courteous would resolve so many problems on our roads and it would only hold them up for a few!. Also, Aldi never had any plans for traffic lights in there application.

Any time or date for public meeting to show the planned restrictions and dates?
