Police are appealing Police are appealing

POLICE are appealing for information after large industrial screws were placed on train tracks.

Officers are appealing after items were placed on the line at Shaw Lane, Monk Bretton goods line, obstructing the track.

Officers believe the items were placed there at around 4pm on Tuesday, 29 March.

Investigating officer DC Bob Hunt said: “These items, which included large industrial screws, were clearly placed on the line maliciously. In doing so they prevented the train driver from manually moving the tracks to change the direction of the train. This could have had serious consequences, potentially causing the train to derail.”

Anyone with further information should contact BTP on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016, quoting reference 166 of 7/4.

Hope the culprits are caught and dealt with soon.
That said, there are plenty of items in the peel square area that I would have no hesitation leaving on a track for a big heavy train to cut in two!!!!!
You know the ones,,,,, usually have a tin or bottle in their hand pestering shoppers.
