Police appeal after cat shooting Police appeal after cat shooting

A CAT has been severely injured after being shot with a 'hunting' pellet.

Police are appealing for the public's help after the cat was shot in Wath.

Sometime between 6-7pm on Saturday 12 March, the cat, Sassie, a six-year-old female tabby, was let out of its home in New Hill Road in the Wath area.

When she returned a short time later, its owners were left distraught after discovering that the cat was injured and bleeding from its side.

They immediately rushed the cat to the vets where it underwent surgery to remove a pellet which had pierced its intestine and lodged itself inside.

Anyone with further information about this incident should call 101 quoting incident number 815 of 18 March 2016.

I hope your cat recovers and I hope the a*****Le is found... My eldest cat was shot several years ago too by a pellet gun, she was shot 9 times. Her intestines and stomach were like a sieve. The vet was gobsmacked at how she even managed to make it home let alone survive the ordeal. I never found out who did it, but now she's kept as an indoor kitty to live her rest of her life to full without danger. (she's an old lady now). How people can be so cruel is beyond shocking. I hope justice is served.

Disgusting...I hope the kitty has a quick & speedy recovery. This also happened to one of my cat's a number of years ago, he was shot in the back leg & his side. The pellet in his leg shattered his femur & he had to have a long operation to pin & plate his leg bless him. The vet said he must have only been a couple of yards away from who ever shot him for it do do such damage. We did find out who'd shot him & he was reported to the police & prosecuted. We were lucky as the court said he had to pay the vet bill, but others aren't so lucky & can be left with a hefty bill. Why anyone would want to inflict pain & suffering on any animal is beyond me.

It's about time police pulled their fingers out and starting charging people with pellet guns. They no the deal with these things how dangerous they are and also do damage to a human being. It's about time they fetched a new law into this world then half the idiots would not get away with things.
