POLICE are urging dog owners to be vigilant after potentially poisonous dog chews were thrown over a garden fence.

Suspicious pellets were recovered from four dog chews in a garden in Sheffield yesterday evening (Wednesday 16 March).

The chews had blue pellets pushed inside them (pictured above) and officers believe that the pellets could be poisonous.

The homeowner has two dogs and at this time, it is not thought they have eaten any of the pellets, though they are being monitored closely.

Anyone with further information should call 101 quoting incident number 164 of 17 March 2016.

Somebody has the spare cash to buy dog treats ( Jumbones) and what looks like mouse poison, the blue pellets.....First, they are total losers and should put the money spent into a charity box. Second the dog owner should think about neighbours who have a grudge, maybe about the 2 dogs. Don't think we should all be on red alert!

Who does that sort of stuff??? Doesn't seem totally random, I d look to my neighbours if I had that thrown over my fence and I had a dog. Dogs bark! Perhaps they have peed someone off who is bothered/ sick enough to stuff poison in a dog chew.
