Barnsley woman leaves money for charity in will

A MUCH loved woman from Barnsley has left a legacy of £20,264 to Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Jean Higgs was a lifelong supporter of the charity, and organised an annual fundraising walk in Hoyland as chairperson of Saville Court Community Centre residents’ committee.

She passed away at the age of 83 on 6 April 2015.

Charles Rowett, Chief Executive Officer at Yorkshire Cancer Research, said: “We are immensely grateful to Jean for the support she gave during her lifetime and for the money she left to the charity in her will.

Doesn't surprise me!! Jean was an amazing lady, loved her comedy jokes, singing, stories of her younger years, helped out at a charity shop, great woman with a huge heart of gold!! X
