Roadworks for busy roundabouts

Thursday February 25 2016

Roadworks Roadworks

ROADWORKS will be carried out to widen busy roundabouts on Cudworth Parkway and West Green Way.

An increase in traffic has caused damage to the kirbing, therefore work will be done to widen the roundabout ring to give drivers more room.

The works will result in restrictions on the roads from Sunday, 6 March for around 12 weeks.

For full details of the works, click here.

are these the same kerbstones that were touted as almost unbreakable before the road was built. leave it as it is and spend the money installing a pavement on shaw lane carlton.

Should not have made that size when the parkway and the road leading to fish dam lane was built, bad planning once again

Cllr roy miller says there has been an increase in the amount of large vehicles using the roundabouts. now correct me if I am wrong but surely if a road is built leading from an expanding industrial estate the amount of large vehicles using that estate will increase and since the industrial estate has been expanding since it was first built the planners should have factored that in at planning stage.

it is not miller bashing steve, it is quoting cllr roy miller from the barnsley council sight. just click on the link in the story to see the quote. i am not bashing anyone ,but if you are the spokesman for the council ,as cllr miller is, on this matter surely i am allowed to quote him without being accused of bashing.

Should live in Lundwood the amount of traffic coming throu since bypasses opened is beyond a joke live here over 30 years and never really saw any big lorries now you see them all the time noise during night on main road and during day pavfmentx outside local shops all sunk and broke up by large lorries parking on them wonder if there going to sort that out too BMBC are rubbish at planning even the main road running throu Lundwood is all breaking up a sinking

Nothing to do with any increase in traffic, it wasn't built wide enough in the first place !!!
The buses can't come into Cudworth without coming onto the other side of the road into on-coming traffic. All the kerbstones on the roundabout have been smashed by lorries because the roundabout is too tight - exactly the same as the roundabout at the Carlton end.
BMBC wasting more tax payers money instead of doing things properly first time around.
