All change for Barnsley Building Society

Thursday February 4 2016

SOME Barnsley Building Society branches are to close as part of a shake up.

Barnsley Building Society was bought by Yorkshire Building Society in 2008 and, from July, it will be merged into the YBS branding.

Some branches, including the existing Yorkshire Building Society branch at the bottom of Market Hill, Wombwell, Cudworth and Mexborough will close.

A company spokesman said 39 members of staff work in the five branches, and of those consultation is being carried out with the branch managers.

The existing Barnsley Building Society branch on Cheapside will become the group’s only branch in the town centre.
