A FORMER public toilet building will be demolished and a new row of shops will be built in Cudworth.

Council planners have approved the plan to demolish the building on Barnsley Road - which closed amid budget cuts in 2014.

Eric Lidster, the developer behind the project, said the units will be of a good size and will be perfect for small, perhaps start-up businesses.

It will be a very small row of shops, but why ? they are 6 empty shop units on the main road already,Knowing Lidster's the plan was to buy plot and build a 8 unit 1 bedroomed block of flats but it looks like it got knocked back in planning

Just wondering when the Foulstone site In Darfield is to be developed, it was to have houses and shops but now it's houses. Bit of an eyesore in the centre of Darfield. Does anyone know anything?

I will always remember these toilets for when I lived in Monk Bretton.I had used the urinal before and knew it was full of graffiti,on a very hot day in summer after zipping up I was reading the usual local humour when I noticed a very small clean patch less than half inch round in tiny writing,it read A merry Christmas to all our readers. Barnsley Wit or what !!!
