School praised after improvements

Wednesday December 23 2015

A SCHOOL that was told it must make improvements has been praised by inspectors.

Shafton Primary Academy was told to improve in December 2013 but has now been rated as a ‘good’ school which has outstanding aspects by OFSTED.

Lead inspector Kathleen McArthur, who visited the school on November 18, praised its management, early years provision, quality of teaching and pupils’ behaviour in her report which was published this week.

Coun Tim Cheetham, cabinet spokesperson for people, said: “The headteacher and staff have transformed the learning environment to create a vibrant and purposeful school with high expectations for its pupils.”
