Bus company announces improvement plan

A BARNSLEY bus firm will invest in new ticketing systems that will help provide real time journey tracking and contactless payments.

Tates Travel has announced the investment and say work will be completed by March next year.

The company was fined £18,000 by the Traffic Commissioner earlier this year after an unusually high level of complaints about service were presented.

But it has now instead agreed to invest that money in improvements.

The fine would be better on additional buses or customer service training. What good are ticket machines, when the service is awful, when buses don't turn up on time 40-60mins+ late.

As someone how lives near the depot, this company really annoys me the buses are constantly breaking down and clogging up the local roads. This firm is clearly run by cowboys. I will be very surprised if these “improvement’s” are ever made.
