A NEW emergency doctor's service for Barnsley is offering appointments up until 10pm in the evening.

The new I HEART Barnsley scheme runs from the Woodland Drive Medical Centre and the Chapelfield Medical Centre in Wombwell and will be open to anyone who is registered with a GP in Barnsley.

A spokesman said: "You can call and book from 10am in the morning and the idea is that you’ll be able to get an appointment that day or within the next day or so.

"They also have appointments on a Saturday morning. It’s not there to replace your usual GP as you can still go to them but it’s ideal if you can’t get to see your GP that day or you work shifts or you need to see a GP on a Saturday."

Trials of telephone appointments, email and even skype type appointments will be trialled next year.

I've used this service as couldn't get an appointment with usual GP so it's good that this is here and also good for those who struggle to get to GP's during normal surgery hours
