We Are Barnsley knows you will be busy over the Jubilee period, so we’ve compiled one of our famous survival guides.

We’ve contacted everyone we could think of to get you information on need-to-know items like chemist and dentists opening, bus services and bin collections.

GPs in the borough will be closed over the Jubilee bank holiday and people seeking an appointment are asked to call their regular practice for pre-recorded details of what to do and how to be seen. Patients are advised not go to Barnsley Hospital.

The emergency dental service on 0845 155 0845 will be running an out-of-hours service as follows:
Saturday 2 June:    12.30 – 5pm
Sunday 3 June:      12.30 – 5pm
Monday 4 June:     12.30 – 5pm
Tuesday 5 June:    12.30 – 5pm
Patients are reminded that this service is accessed by telephone call only.  A walk-in service is not provided.

A limited number of pharmacies will be open over the Bank Holiday. These are:

Monday 4 June

Asda Pharmacy, Old Mill Lane, 9am - 6pm

Boots, Cheapside, 10am - 4pm

Lloyds Pharmacy, 32-34 Midland Street, 8.30 am - 8pm

Tesco, Wombwell Lane, 11am - 4pm

Tuesday 5 June

Boots, Cheapside, 10am - 4pm

Lloyds Pharmacy, 32-34 Midland Street, 8.30 am - 8pm

If you require an emergency prescription your GP will advise you of which chemists can dispense them. Barnsley Hospital’s dispensing pharmacy will not be available during the Bank Holiday period.

Bins will be emptied on their normal scheduled days – residents are asked to ensure that their bins are presented for collection by 6am on collection days.

The boroughs markets will be open as normal on June 2 and 3 but will be closed over the bank holiday - Goldthorpe, Hoyland and Wombwell will reopen on June 6.
