A BARNSLEY woman is planning a new year's day party - so that lonely strangers don't have to see in 2016 alone.

Kelly Brown-Pleasants has launched her 'Man in the Moon' campaign to raise £200 to pay for a roast dinner and afternoon of entertainment for older local residents who are lonely or experiencing isolation.

She said: "The John Lewis advert has touched many people and raised awareness of how many elderly people are lonely.
"I would love to get any elderly local people the opportunity to socialize and make new friends, with a view for them to meet up with each other in future."

It will be hosted at the community hall at Birdwell Church.

Anyone who wants to support this should go here.

This advert is because john Lewis have teamed up with age UK to make sure "no one should have no one" at Christmas, everyone should look on www.ageuk.org.uk to see what this is all about, and to sign their pledge they are needing 100.000 signatures to put in to the government by 27th November to get a legislation so that no one has no one and everyone is cared for. Age UK are also running "pennies" at the min that if you ever use your card in any of their shops they are asking for a 25p donation so it all goes towards their campaign. They need as many donations as possible in order to make this work for our elderly! You can also ask for any information at any age UK shop or call Wakefield age UK on 01924365819 x
