A BARNSLEY man has been banned for life from keeping livestock after officers found his pigs and pony in poor health.

Michael David Dewsnap of, Thurlstone faces 12 month community service and hefty court costs following an appearance at Barnsley Magistrates Court.

The prosecution was brought following a routine inspection in March by a Barnsley Council Animal Health Officer who discovered three pigs and a pony all very underweight and living in dirty unsuitable conditions with no food, bedding or water.

Magistrates stated they did not believe the Defendant’s actions were deliberate but that there was no doubt that the animals suffered.
