A HISTORIC pub is to be demolished after planners approved a proposal to use the site for housing.

Anthony Youel has been given permission to knock down The Monkey, at Hollin Moor Lane.

Mr Youel is an artist who has used the pub as a basis for his work in recent times, using the car parks to display art installations and sculptures.

Planners were told the pub was no longer viable as a business.

Ran it into the ground to make a quick buck, just like a tory that he supposedly hates. Now brags about how much people are going to pay for one of his paintings.

I thought it was all about the "art"?

Last video I saw he was swearing at passing cars with a can in his hand - not much different from the layabouts in town.

A crying shame. This used to be a lovely country pub where walkers and hirse riders were welcome but the so called "art" has ruined it. A complete and utter idiot.

Yes this did used to be a good country pub but like many other pubs the planners have been played like a fidle by someone intentionally making a business not viable and driving customers away with so called ecentric art displays My Arse how has this been allowed to happen ? Where was the council when the pub was being run down and who is daft when the land will be worth 4 or 5 times more now ?
