Volunteers urged to join clean-up at St Andrew’s Square

Wednesday October 14 2015

VOLUNTEERS are being urged to join in with a clean-up event at St Andrew’s Square in Bolton-Upon-Dearne.

The event will take place between 10am and 2pm on Wednesday, October 31.

People are asked to give as much time as they are able to spare.

Anyone interested in lending a helping hand is asked to meet in the square besides the Tan and Tone shop.

Volunteers will help to remove all litter from the area, trim back shrubbery and remove weeds.

Tools will be provided and refreshments will also be available.

The town centre and immediate areas are also heavily littered especially due to heavy pedestrian use. The council should be cleaning up and providing improved and harsher enforcement in dealing with the litterers causing the mess.

The Council make it`s street cleaners redundant, then expect the residents who pay a ludicrous amount of council tax to volunteer to do it themselves for free. How about a bit of an incentive Mr. Houghton (sorry, Sir Houghton) and give some rebate to the residents to do the council`s job.
