Warning over selling e-cigarettes to under 18s

Thursday October 8 2015

TRADING Standards officers in Barnsley are warning businesses that it is now illegal to sell e-cigarettes to under 18s.

Anyone caught selling e-cigarettes to under 18s faces a fine of up to £2,500.

The new legislation makes it an offence for adults to buy e-cigarettes and tobacco products for children.

This also applies to liquid and capsule style refills.

Coun Roy Miller said: "Smoking is the single biggest cause of preventable death in Barnsley.

"Although current research suggests that e-cigarettes are significantly less harmful than smoking, I encourage anyone who uses either tobacco products or e-cigarettes to stop using them completely."

GOOD - nobody knows what is in the liquids, could be anything.

Why anyone would wish to inhale an unregulated liquid into their lungs is beyong me - after all, you wouldn't drink bleach would you ?

Well Fred, you are right, I wouldn't drink bleach but there again I wouldn't drink e liquid either. I gave up smoking on 22nd January this year and went cold turkey. I have gone mad on several occasions for a cigarette and today I have purchased an e cig and liquids. Much safer than real cigarettes. I am still a non smoker.

Answer this logic. If a 16 year old can legally smoke (not buy), a cigarette then how come they have to wait until they are 18 to 'vapour', is the government surreptitiously stating that 'vapourising' is more harmful then smoking!
