Report reveals Barnsley childcare services among the best

Thursday September 17 2015

THE quality of childcare services in Barnsley are among the best in the country, a new report has revealed.

An amazing 88 per cent of childminders, daycare nurseries, playgroups and out-of-school clubs in Barnsley achieved 'good' or ‘outstanding’ in Ofsted inspections.

This is compared with the national average of 85 per cent.

Coun Tim Cheetham said: “The council is committed to ensuring all children have the best start in life and have access to high-quality early education and care.

"We know that high-quality provision in the early years makes a positive difference to children now and for their future life chances.”

Shame that most of the primary and secondary schools are failing

Fantastic acknowledgement talking about outstanding childcare providers..i for one was awarded outstanding in july 2015 its a been hard work but the self satisfaction helps build our confidence..its just a pity that EARLY CHILDHOOD SERVICES dont have the funds to either send out a special certificate to honour our achievement or have an evening of celebration to show how fabulous the childcare in barnsley is.

Would like to know why the council are then planning to close most of their children's centre daycares or why only 8 out of the 63 councillors can be bothered to attend the cabinet meeting next week to decide the fate of the daycares and their staff and children. .....but bravo to these settings for the ex ellent ofsted ratings byw

The people who achieved these amazing results have been categorically let down.

It's the same old same old, unopposed labour under the strict marshalling of Sir Steve, all he does is blame the government but does nothing himself.

The councillors and cabinet have about as much fight in them as a lame duck.

And we still vote them in.
