Residents frustrated with cars parked close to junction

Tuesday September 15 2015

RESIDENTS of Pond Street in Barnsley are frustrated with cars being parked close to the junction to Agnes Road.

Cars are being parked at the end of Pond Street which is reducing visibility for those driving onto Agnes Road or New Street.

One resident said that the side of his car was nearly hit as he tried to creep out of the junction.

The matter has been reported to the council and safer neighbourhood team who are looking into the issue.

Highway Code states cars should not stop or park opposite or within 10 metres of a junction, except in an authorised parking space.

Same here Sam. I dont live near the town centre but the trouble we and our neighbours have parking near our own homes its stupid. We have people who have driveways but would rather park 5 doors down and we could have a drive but people from surrounding villages decide to park in front of where we would have our gates complete morons.

It doesn't help people parking cars on the wide pavement outside the clinic/top of Princess St either, can't see a damn thing when at junction. How long before there's a serious accident.
If car park charges wern't so high or better still free then people would probably use them instead of parking anywhere they like.

I'm personally not surprised they park there, Agnes road is a dogging hotspot, certainly in the top 5 in Barnsley

Yes race common road, peel street and Blenheim road............people who work in Barnsley avoiding extortion by Barnsley council for parking...by parking here......push the problem on to local residence this coupled with patrons of business at the bottom of Bleinheim road, combined are making it both frustrating and a danger by not only parking on the junction but on any pavement they choose....... again council and police cherry picking what they can be bothered to investigate.....hypocrisy and bureaucracy at it's finest.......

The area around Agnes Road/Princess Street etc. should be made a one way system, so there would be room to drive around and leave more room avoid catching parked cars. We can't get in and out of our drive because of learner drivers - I was taught not to block entrances and exits - has the Highway Code been changed? Also drivers pull off the main road onto our road to use their mobile phones, which makes it very difficult and dangerous to pull out of the junction. Sorry for the rant.

If you go down Doncaster road past junction st you will see 2 cars parked fully on the pavement completely blocking it and not one official has said anything. You have to walk on the road to get round as the pavement is completely blocked. This person is also parked on a junction so is breaking the law but the police go past everyday and don't do anything makes ya laugh.

You think you have problems?? HELLO!! As any of you seen Warner Road in Pogmoor??? No thought not! There are Monday to Friday between 30 and at times 50 cars parked on the pavement, between Pennine Way jct and Pogmoor Road. Both sides of the road. God help us if there was ever a serious incident! The same 2 cars park on each corner of Warner Road at the junction every wk day. That blows the highway code out of the water!! Does any one care??? Thought not! 100% selfish!!
