A BUDGET supermarket chain has put in planning permission for a store on land off Mitchell's Way, next to the White Rose roundabout in Wombwell.

German supermarket Lidl plans include 132 car parking spaces, a sub-station to power the store and provisions for access from Bradberry Balk Lane.

Up to 40 new full and part time jobs could be created.

Another low budget store!!! We have enough poundlands and Aldi's. Barnsley seems to only attract the cheap rubbish stores. The Lidl in Barnsley town centre is bad enough, people that use the store seem to have a problem with using soap.

Lidl and also are mainstream supermarket these days Jase so you might want to move out of the early 90s when they truly were budget stores selling damaged goods. I bet you still consider Scoda to be a budget car

You must use it to know other users don't use soap

Completely agree with you Dave the only problem is what about non drivers, why couldn't it be nearer the town centre. At least something is been done in Wombwell we are still waiting to see what is happening in Darfield, a Lidl on Nanny Marr road would be great or shouldn't we mention that darfield councillors

As a supermarket worker my take on your piont is that we do not come and take you hostage to shop in our store. We are all free to shop where we want and I assure you Dave, I do not always shop where I work, but where I want.

Indeed I was just talking about Lidl to a friend who lives in Darfield. There was supposed to be a Lidl being built there...... It would make a lot more sense than in Wombwell who has a Tesco and further up at Stairfoot an Aldi.

This is a really good thing for Barnsley. It creates job which can only be a good thing. It helps families on low income as it is a budget supermarket. The comment from Jase makes him sound very stupid and thick. Wats not using soap have to do with a budget supermarket I will never know. Flipping crettin.

Oh good that'll be really handy for a lot of people in that area. Can't wait. Nothing wrong with these low budget stores at all. I also don't have any problem with using soap!
