More students achieving top GCSE grades in Barnsley

Thursday August 20 2015

BARNSLEY has seen an overall improvement in GCSE results with more students achieving the top grades.

While top A* and A grades have fallen nationally, Barnsley has seen an increase overall.

The amount of students getting five or more A* to C grades, including maths and English, has increased in Barnsley by 1 per cent on last year’s results.

There has been a considerable increase in the percentage of students in Barnsley gaining a grade C or above in English.

Carlton Community College, Darton College and Shafton ALC have all made significant improvements on overall results compared to 2014.

Coun Tim Cheetham said: "The students have demonstrated great hard work and commitment and we would like to congratulate them and wish them well in their next steps.

"Thanks must go to all the teaching and support staff in our schools who are dedicated to helping our young people achieve their potential."

I would like to say a Big thank you to all the staff at Carlton Community College and Resource Provision for all the help they gave my son to get great grades better than he thought he'd get as he has learning difficulties.

BIG THANK YOU X
