Barnsley College celebrates amazing A Level results

BARNSLEY College is celebrating an excellent set of A Level results with an amazing 98 per cent pass rate.

There was a 100 per cent pass rate in 18 subjects, including Chemistry, Physics, ICT, English Language, Business Studies, French and Geography.

Over 300 individual A*, A and B grades were awarded.

Many students are now looking forward to starting Higher Education courses at universities throughout the country, including Sheffield, Leeds, Surrey, Newcastle and Manchester.



Former Holy Trinity School pupil Megan Barnard, 18, achieved A*s in Psychology and Sociology and a C in History and is going on to the University of York to study Psychology.

Tobias Fox, 18, who achieved two A grades in Maths and Chemistry and an A* in Computing. He is now going to the University of York to study Computer Science.

Former Shafton ALC pupil Daniel Broadhurst, 18, is celebrating an A* in Geography, an A in Biology and a B in Computing and has secured a place at the University of Sheffield to study Accounting.

Principal Colin Booth OBE said: “We are thrilled to be announcing such excellent results and would like to congratulate our students on their achievements.

"We are delighted to see an increase in the overall pass rate, an increase in the number of high grades awarded and improvements in success in so many subjects. Both our students and staff should be very proud of their hard work."

MP Michael Dugher said: "I would like to congratulate all those students in Barnsley who have collected their A-level results. Students have worked incredibly hard and results suggest a record number of students have secured a place at university.

"These are a fantastic set of results and credit must go to the students, the teachers and support staff at schools and colleges across Barnsley who put in so much effort all year round."
