Is Taco Bell filling a much-needed gap in the market?

Tuesday August 11 2015

AMERICAN fast-food chain Taco Bell recently announced plans to open a new store on Peel Street in Barnsley.

Do you think we should be encouraging more independent cafes and restaurants to open up in Barnsley?

Or do you think Taco Bell is filling a much-needed gap in the market?

Just what the town needs, more American owned junk food, and more obesity, less home cooking

Food is food, there as much UK owned junk as there is American. This is a good thing, it shows that bigger companies still see Barnsley as a place that can be capitalised upon, thus bringing more money into the region.

It's great news!! Taco Bell is a very ''cool'' brand with not many branches in UK yet...so its a really big deal they've invested in what was an empty scruffy old Blockbuster building.
Taco Bell food is gorgeous too...very different to McDonalds etc!

All we have in Barnsley are eating places and pubs so whats another one.Decent shops we need.

Too sophisticated for Barnsley folk, even a McDonald's is pushing their fag and beer soaked palette.

I am sure Taco Bell has done it's research and think it will work. it might encourage people to come into Barnsley to have a meal that doesn't cost too much, in a venue with a nice atmosphere, instead of going elsewhere that might be considered more 'sophisticated' but involves driving. Perhaps you can let us know where you recommend?
