Barnsley FC fans urged not to travel away without a ticket

Friday August 7 2015

BARNSLEY FC fans are being urged not to travel to Chesterfield for this weekend’s League One season opener if they do not already have a ticket.

The club has sold the entire 1,976 seat allocation for the game which kicks off at the Proact Stadium at 3pm on Saturday, August 8.

There will be an increased police presence in Chesterfield on the day with British Transport Police and intelligence officers from South Yorkshire Police providing resources.

Superintendent Graham McLaughlin, who is leading the policing operation, said: “We want people to enjoy this event and indeed the whole match day experience. Derbyshire police are well versed in policing high level football events. I would remind fans that any disorder will not be tolerated.

“Anyone who causes trouble or is excessively intoxicated will be removed from the ground or barred entry in the first place. If necessary we will arrest offenders and we will seek football banning orders where appropriate."
