Funding Available For Needy Community Groups

Thursday May 24 2012

FUNDING is available for needy groups, societies and organisations in Wombwell, Hemingfield and Jump - but the deadline to apply is approaching.

The Captain Allott's Charity makes donations to local causes and the next deadline is on June 1. Captain Allott, a philanthropist, bequeathed his large house to local people. The property was sold by the council and the money raised put into a special fund.

Applications are limited to groups, societies and organisations whose normal meeting place is in these areas of Barnsley and most projects will be considered.

Organisations assisted so far range from churches to schools and sports organisations. Previous grants have been up to £400.

Application forms can be obtained from Secretary to the Allott's Charity, c/o Council Governance Unit, PO Box 634 Barnsley, S70 9GG, call 01226 773061 or email patjepps@barnsley.gov.uk
