A DODWORTH grandfather has released a book which looks at the origins of Christianity.

Retired Methodist minister Alan Saxby, 79, has spent the last ten years researching and writing.

The book, James, Brother of Jesus, and the Jerusalem Church, started as a thesis for which Alan was awarded a Doctorate from the University of Sheffield.

Alan came to Barnsley in 1966 and was Methodist minister for Monk Bretton, Huddersfield Road, Worsbrough Common and Worsbrough Dale.

In 1972 he moved on from circuit ministry to become a sector minister at Barnsley College for further education where he built up a counselling service.
