Large-scale heroin supply conspiracy costs Grimethorpe man £35k

Tuesday July 7 2015

A GRIMETHORPE man has been ordered to pay back £35,000 that he gained from his role in a large-scale heroin supply conspiracy.

Simon O’Hara, 51, was ordered to pay back the money at a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing on Friday (July 3).

Police began a lengthy investigation in January last year following O’Hara’s conviction, to explore how much he had profited from the class A drugs operation he was involved in and how much could be recovered.

It was determined he had gained £35,000 through his criminality. O’Hara now has three months to pay the money back or he will face a 15-month prison sentence.

Detective Sergeant Joanne Kemp from the Financial Crime Investigation Unit said: "Let this case serve as a reminder to those who seek to engage in and profit from criminality."
