Stagecoach Yorkshire announces two improved bus services

Tuesday July 7 2015

STAGECOACH Yorkshire has announced that residents in Barnsley will benefit from two improved bus services.

From Saturday, September 5, Hoylandswaine Village will have a more direct link in to Barnsley, with buses on the current service 20 from Penistone diverted to run through the village.

Shafton Green is also to be served by a new service. The Stagecoach number 31 will provide a service during shopping hours, from Mondays to Saturdays, linking the area to Cudworth and Barnsley.

It will no longer serve Crown Avenue in Cudworth which benefitted from an increase in frequency of up to six buses an hour on service 32 last September.

Commercial Director John Young said “We’ll also be making changes to some of our other routes to improve punctuality – we know from research that customers place huge importance on punctual services and our team work very hard to maintain and improve this.”

Stagecoach want to be putting more buses on through jump and Heming field as well rather than just having one bus, once an hour its ridiculous!

Its about time there was a regular bus for the old people who live in the bungalows and complex at the top of aldham house lane wombwell. The only bus that goes up never turns up its ridiculas they have to walk down fields to get into wombwell at their ages

And as for hemingfield and all round that area there isn't enough people catching bus to put additional buses on it wouldn't be profitable to the company , as we all know that's all folk are bothered about nowadays

I live at Hemingfield, yes we could do with more buses, but the big issue is the timing of the buses. It leaves the bus station at 17.05 so all of us people finishing work at 17.00 hours have no chance of catching it and the next bus is not till 18.15 so it takes me 2 hours to get home from work. Really wish they would put it back to the original time of 17.15 maybe then they would get more people on the bus.
