PET owners are being warned not to leave their dog alone in a car on a warm day.

According to the RSPCA, a car can become as hot as an oven very quickly, even when it doesn’t feel that warm.

When it’s 22 degrees outside, in a car it can reach an unbearable 47 degrees within the hour.

WABer Rachel Schofield saw a dog in the boot of a car with the windows only slightly opened parked on the Asda car park on Sunday.

She informed Asda staff who put out an announcement to find the owner. One staff member told Rachel it was the fifth incident reported that day.

The RSPCA cruelty line can be called for advice on 0300 1234 999. However, 999 should be called if a dog is in immediate danger.

Common sense. We need shade and water so do our animals. Why do you need to take your dog shopping anyway? Get a friend instead. Keep safe and leave the poor buggars at home
