Barnsley Council issued the most fines for not picking up dog mess

Friday June 12 2015

BARNSLEY Council issued the most fines in the last year to people who failed to pick up their dog's poo.

The BBC asked the 348 authorities in England and Wales how many fines they have issued to owners who failed to clean up dog mess and 302 responded.

Out of these, 103 did not issue any fixed penalty notices in 2014/15. Barnsley Council had issued the most with a total of 187.

However, the number of people fined for failing to pick up their dog's poo fell by almost 20 per cent in England and Wales.

In the last year, 2,868 fixed penalty notices were issued in England and Wales. This is down from 3,521 in the previous 12 months.

If bmbc installed some bins then they wouldn't have to fraudulantly fine people for not picking dog mess, and proof of fraud and deception can be proved as i already have in the past few months.

Well Done Barnsley Council and tuff **** Paul. There's nothing worse than dog crap all over the place. Fines should be increased to £500 names and shamed in the press. And if yiu are out with a dog in a public place you should carry poo bags as LAW.

i agree with toby. me or my partner takes dog out every night. harness on, lead on at all times, and poo bags. if people dont mind and think its ok for their dog to s**t everywhere in their community then im sure they wont mind dogs/cats s**ting in their living room. make em do community service...........picking the dog s**t up

As long as the dog excrement is in an appropriate bag then it can go in any bin, so no excuse really.. Take it home we all have bins!
I would like to know just what areas these fines where given as where I live I don't see any impact of this!
