A WOMAN fighting cancer has thanked the generosity of people in Barnsley who have raised over £2000 for charity.

Amy Jennifer Blower and nine of her friends took part in the Leeds Pretty Muddy 5k Race for Life on Saturday, May 30.

After race for life, Amy joined the annual 15 mile walk organised by Silkstone charity Sarah's Walk. This year part of the money raised will go towards a trip to New York for Amy, something that she has always wanted to do.

Toby Carvery in Barnsley hosted a special event to help Amy fundraise for the race.

Amy said: "What Toby Carvery and Sarah's walk have and are doing to support me through my illness is amazing. I feel that they and the people of Barnsley that are donating deserve a thank you."

Money raised from the run and the walk will go to Sarah's Walk and Cancer Research.
