A PRISONER who killed another inmate with a single punch to the head has been jailed for four years.

Keiron Simpson, 26, formerly of Smithywood Lane, Dodworth, was serving a prison sentence at HMP Doncaster when he attacked and killed Robert Bryan, 43.

Simpson walked up to Bryan from behind and punched him once to the face, knocking him to the ground, at around 6pm on February 27.

Bryan became unconscious and was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A post mortem found the cause of death was a blow to the head.

Simpson was serving a 16-week sentence for burglary when he attacked his victim, who had been recalled to prison to serve out the remainder of a manslaughter sentence.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Sheffield Crown Court on April 30, and was sentenced to four years in jail on Tuesday (May 26).
