Staffed tills make a return after residents complain

CHECKOUT staff will be brought back in to one Barnsley supermarket after locals complained there were too many self checkouts.

Residents handed a 350-signature petition to the store in Grimethorpe complaining about the number of self checkout tills.

Gary Hotchins, of Grange Road, Brierley, said: "When we took the petition down the manager came out to see us and he was really good about the situation.

"He told us that head office are listening to what customers want, so they are putting the tills back in which is great news for our elderly residents."

It's expected that a staffed checkout will make a return in June.

About time wish they would do the same in the bigger supermarkets like old mill lane. 10 Hours shift then expect me to scan and pack own bags stopped going there but would go back if more tills not self scans

Good to hear, I have been shopping at Old mill lane Asda for 40 years, I will definately stop shopping there if they keep putting more self service checkouts in

That's brilliant it's been bad enough for younger shoppers but the senior citizens have really been struggling. Nice on ASDA
