Barnsley Bitter Brews Up Parliament Bar

Friday May 4 2012

BITTER brewed in Barnsley is being served in parliament, thanks to the campaigning of a local MP.

Michael Dugher, for Barnsley East, arranged for the award-winning Barnsley Bitter to be served as the guest ale in the House of Commons bar.

Barnsley Bitter is brewed at Acorn Brewery and the owners went to London this week to see it being served.

Michael said: "I wanted to get Barnsley Bitter served in the Palace of Westminster as I think it is a great opportunity to showcase such a fantastic local brew. It is also brilliant to be able to share some of Barnsley’s finest produce with colleagues in Parliament.”
