Adults Urged Not To Undermine Children's One Direction Feelings

Thursday March 26 2015

CHILDLINE has warned that young people might be feeling "very distressed" after hearing news that Zayn Malik has left boyband One Direction.

The popular 22-year-old announced his departure yesterday. Having seen upset fans post their thoughts on social media pages, the counselling service has now issued advice.

Sue Minto, head of ChildLine, said: "There are young people who are going to feel seriously distressed at the news.

"People are going to have to get their head around the fact that for some this will be very distressing and not to undermine it, even if they don't quite understand it.

"Anyone who is feeling distressed can contact us by calling 0800 11 11 or visit www.childline.org.uk."
