Transport Police Appeal For Witnesses To Train Incident

Wednesday February 25 2015

AN investigation is underway after a female train conductor was grabbed by a passenger in Barnsley.

The incident happened on February 6 at around 4.40pm at Darton station, one stop away from Barnsley Interchange.

Investigating officer PC Fiona Poyner said: "The man boarded the train at Darton but decided he no longer wanted to travel and began demanding to be let off.

"He then grabbed the train conductor's arm and pushed her towards the door, causing her to sound the emergency alarm and stop the train.

"At this, the man got off the train before attempting to get back on."

He is described as black, aged in his late 40s, around 6ft tall, of stocky build with a chubby face and messy, afro-style hair.

He was wearing a black leather jacket, a grey t-shirt underneath and dark jeans.
