Reds Bounce Back With Comfortable Win

Monday February 23 2015

THE Reds leapfrogged Crewe with a comfortable win on Saturday.

After three defeats on the spin, Barnsley bounced back with a vital win over their fellow strugglers with two second-half goals.

After a dour opening half, Lewin Nyatanga headed in Josh Scowen's free-kick to give the hosts the lead after the hour.

An unfortunate own goal from Crewe goalkeeper Paul Rachubka sealed three precious points with ten minutes to go.

Caretaker boss Mark Burton said: "The three points was the most important thing from today and to bounce back from the defeat at Crawley last week.

"The lads have done great. It was a bit edgy in the first half, but that was always going to be the way after last week's result.

"The attitude has been great from all the players this week, it was just the belief. I don't look at other results. We have to keep our own house in order.

"The players have to focus on what we need to do and then grind out the results and not worry what other teams are doing around us.

"If we're doing our job properly we will move up the league."

Next up for the Reds is a visit to Scunthorpe tomorrow night.
