New Use For Redundant Tax Disc Holders

Thursday November 13 2014

HAVE you still got your tax disc on show? South Yorkshire Police has backed plans to use its holder to store your emergency contact details if you're involved in an accident.

As the tax disc holder has now become redundant in vehicles, rather then throwing it away, a new use has been found.

The emergency contact disc contains next of kin contact details and medical alert information for the driver.

In the event of an emergency or road traffic collision that renders the occupants unable to communicate, a first responder will be able to obtain vital information that is not otherwise accessible at the scene.

A spokesperson said: "All the information is optional and you can put in as much or little as you like. You could consider putting multiple discs in the holder if more than one person uses the vehicle."

The downloadable disc - which can be cut out and placed into the existing holder - folds inwards so it cannot be viewed by passers by.

Click here to download the disc.

This is a really good idea. It's something I've often thought about while driving - being a bit of a worrier by nature, "if something happens to me how is anyone going to know to ring my family?"

Great idea, I did wonder whether to take the holder off altogether or leave it as it is a metal one with screws it would be a pain to remove.

Great idea, alternatively just put a sign in telling burglars when you out, and sneak thiefs where to come and steal your car, inspirational thinking !!!!!

Omg! No ones asking for bank details or owt!! Your other half's name and number would help! If your car int outside your house its 10 to 1 you aren't in anyway!! Unbelievable, and also, not compulsory!! Your vehicles are registered to an address anyway, but if you're taken to hospital or worse, they'll know who to contact!!
