Royal Visit For Restored Victorian Conservatory

Tuesday October 14 2014

WENTWORTH Castle's restored Victorian conservatory is to get a royal visit.

Prince Richard's visit marks the first anniversary since the grand structure re-opened after a painstaking renovation.

Costing £3.74 million, it has proved to be a popular place for weddings and has been complemented by the construction of a new activity room next to the conservatory.

Schools have been quick to take advantage of the space, with youngsters discovering the heritage and wildlife of the gardens in the last 12 months.

Claire Herring, director at Wentworth Castle Gardens, said: "The conservatory has been meticulously refurbished to its original state and this glorious glasshouse is the jewel in Wentworth Castle Garden's crown."

The Prince, who is the Queen’s cousin, will have a tour of the iconic Barnsley building on November 4.
