Vinyl Shop Opens Its Doors

Monday October 6 2014

A BLAST from the past has rocked up on Peel Street in Barnsley in the shape of a new vinyl record shop.

Vinyl Underground Records opened its doors on Saturday and has a stock of 50,000 vinyl records.

The business is a joint venture from brother and sister-in-law Andy Shaw and Christine Bower.

Christine said: "We are already committed music fans but there is still a lot to learn.

"Record collectors really know their stuff, right down to the details of label design."

Andy and Christine are also looking at supplying vintage vinyl and vintage record players like the classic and much sought after Dansette models.

Very pleased to hear. I spent many a Saturday afternoon in Casa Disco in Barnsley browsing through their vinyl.

There's been a record shop in Barnsley for well over a year already people. One that needs your support. It's in the arcade. Pay it a visit too!

Love vinyl records! I'd love to invest in a record player and educate my 8 year old on how we used to listen to music. Hope the business takes off.

@BDK They have a small amount of cd's and the odd book but specialise in vinyl.
The owner used to run Vox Pop Records in Manchester.
If you are wanting something specific vinyl wise then nip in and see them and leave your details.
They have DOZENS of boxes of un catalogued vinyl to sift through so you may get lucky ;)
