Much-Loved Headmaster Passes Away

Monday October 6 2014

A 'GENTLEMAN' who served as a school's headmaster for more than 20 years has died at the age of 76.

Martin Antony Bould, known as Tony, joined Penistone Grammar School in 1976 and was in charge until his retirement in 1997.

He leaves wife Joan, sons Andy, Christopher and Peter and seven grandchildren.

Andy said his father, who lived at Kexborough, was passionate about his work.

"He was courteous, a gentleman and a loving family man," Andy said. "He loved his job and he loved teaching the children."

More than 100 former Penistone pupils have paid tribute to him on Facebook.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday at Kexborough Methodist Church, followed by cremation at Ardsley Crematorium.
