FIVE people were arrested on Saturday after a police officer was injured following disorder at the Barnsley match.

Police were called to Market Street at approximately 1.30pm to reports of a large group engaged in disorder.

Four men aged between 18 and 43 from Barnsley and Pontefract were arrested for public order offences and have been released on bail.

After the match, an officer was injured and missiles were thrown at other officers.

A 20-year-old man, from Barnsley, was arrested after the match for criminal damage and public order offences. He remains in custody.

There was also disorder between Barnsley fans and Stoke fans at Stoke railway station at approximately 6pm. No arrests were made.

CCTV will be searched from the game in an attempt to trace those involved in the disorder.

Chief Inspector Neil Hulme said: "We are disappointed by the actions of this significant number of so-called fans who attended Saturday's fixture intent on becoming involved in disorder."

Not all of us are soft. We are running out of men though. All the youths are starting to look like one direction and wear more make up than the girls. The women in Tarn can fight better than most men in other places.

Nothing about the coppers smashing that kids head through the rear window of a car and pepper spraying folk including a kid with a broken leg and pushing him to the floor then walking away with a smug grin on their face for a job well done. That's what started the bother outside the ground.

I have heard from different sources about the police pepper spraying a child and not properly segregating fans, why isn't this been looked into?

Well done lads, let's get the old days back. Football 's too soft and corporate these days.

I was at the game and was disgusted by what happened. It spoils it for the rest of us who pay good money to enjoy football matches.

it is a shame the players do not roll there sleeves up on the pitch and fight for the tarn, instead of laying down and waiting to collect the pay check..

Back to the days of the dinosaurs eh? If bfc got the act together and had ambition perhaps there would have been a win. In which case everyone would have been happy.
