Enforcement Officers Make An Impact

Friday September 12 2014

ENFORCEMENT officers are making an impact, according to a councillor.

The new enforcement teams in Wombwell and Darfield deal with issues from dog fouling to inconsiderate parking.

A particular presence has been noted on Wombwell High Street and Coun Robert Frost is pleased with what is being done.

"There's far less rubbish and cigarette ends and that's what people complained about," he said.

"There are always going to be one or two people who don't like it but the vast majority are in favour.

"The on-the-spot fines go back into the areas of Wombwell, Darfield and Hoyland.

"They have been in place for a couple of weeks and we're pleased with how it's going."

Have you noticed a difference? Have your say below.

Great news, well done! Wombwell has been particularly untidy lately..especially up around the stubbs road/loxley avenue estate..litter dropped all over and fly tipping so if this can help then it can only be a good thing.

They should try coming over to hospital area, they'd have a field day with inconsiderate parking!!

I'd also like to see them up Penistone area, Plenty of inconciderate parking all over the place and people dropping litter, Show Day Tomorrow would be a perfect time to make an appearance.....And if the Penalty Fine money goes back into the local community I'm all for it!

This is good news and i suppose some people wont like it. I wonder how many travellers have been approached by the enforcement officers to be spoken to for their littering? I would hope that they would not just be going for the easy pickings.

Is a great idea. I would like to see the Wombwell officers removed the regular 5 or 6 that's **** heads that everyday hang around the town centre drinking out of carrier bags and abuse shoppers and little children.

Only today one of the female members go the gang squatted done outside the public toilets that was sold a few weeks ago and let it all hang out.

Just as the kids was coming out of school.

I would also like to ask a question does the CCTV that has been fixed on the high. Street lamp posts.
A. Actually work

B. it's it monitored and by whom.

It's been up a few years but in my opinion can not be monitored. Or is it down to cash again .

Travellers may be part of the problem, but they are by no means the main culprits.

Get yourselves down into Wombwell woods where the roads are a hazard with dumped rubbish, carpets, fridges, children's toys, and other household dteritus. THAT is not travellers...that's lazy inconsiderate people clearing out houses and sumping stuff. Worse still, they are a stone's throw from the dump it site at Worsbrough.

I know what you will say - council changed the dump it rules and you can't take stuff there etc. etc., but that's just not true. I have taken bags and bags of stuff there, matresses, old wardrobes/wood, garden waste, etc. No problem EVER.

People really should start taking some pride in their environment - if they did that, there would be no need for fines and enforcement officers...the place would be nice to live in without them.

Darfield, Wombwell, Hoyland??? Once again they miss the little bit in between. Get the teams to Elsecar and bring the ASB lot also. It's becoming a dump run by yobbish kids.

I may be fifteen and at kirk balk yet I'm so happy with this development as before every child was under the same category of a mindless yob who causes trouble and like u say liters. Now its nice to be appreciated from doing the correct thing such as disposing of your rubbish correctly by the enforcement officers but its also see that the yobs as they are referred to be getting fined. This minority is what gives us all a bad name. But this enforcement program is bettering the community from every angle and it shows instantly.

They want to get up Brinckman street and round the back of the shops at the top.
Dog mess everywhere. Litter everywhere. Mattress that wat there 3 days ended up on fire. There's bread baskets from the continental shop thrown down alley ways.
It's a disgrace !!!

I have to admit Wombwell is cleaner, less cig butt's laying around. At one point it was disgusting, as been said now is the time to get rid of the drunks who hang around Wombwell.

I would be happy to employ staff pay good wages and work for the council on a zero Tolerance commission only from the council. It would cost nothing to the council and Crete jobs and most important clean all towns and estates from dog fouling smoking dumping I'm ready are you BMBC

Barnsley enforcement officers in Darfield seem to completely ignore all the dog Mess on Snapehill rd including a old fridge freezer that has been left outside property for 6 weeks now, and all the rubbish on st Mary's rd, you tread on a cigarette butt that's fine but tread in dog mess and its walked down road, they are only interested in making money from fines not cleaning the area, I would be in favour if they cleaned up the mess instead of just giving a ticket. Last week I had to bleach the pavement where someone had been sick outside my gate, where was the enforcement officer then!!!
