BARNSLEY Hospital is among the best performing hospitals in the country, according to the latest monitoring information from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC - the country’s independent regulator of health and social care services - has published reports on every NHS hospital in England as part of its 'Intelligent Monitoring' initiative.

It has placed hospitals into six bands based on the risk that people may not be receiving safe, effective, high quality care.

The CQC looked at 150 different indicators, including patient experience, staff surveys and statistical measures of performance, before placing hospitals into the bands.

Barnsley Hospital was placed in the band representing the lowest risk to patients.

This is the third time in a row that it has been placed there, having also achieved this in October 2013 and March 2014.

Diane Wake, the hospital's chief executive, said: "This shows that we are maintaining the high quality of care that we provide to our patients, and is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff."

What a joke!

Someone is very talented at massaging the statistics.

Am envious of all the people who have enjoyed the quality care there.......that unfortunately hasn't been the case for my 89 year old Dad.
