Two-Year-Old Walks In Father's Memory

Thursday July 10 2014

A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy walked on a 10-kilometre charity trek in memory of the father he lost to cystic fibrosis.

Corey-George Blackett, from Birdwell, wore a T-shirt with the message 'I'm walking for my Daddy' on the walk at Longshaw in Derbyshire.

He was part of a group of family and friends striding out to support the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre at the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.

They wanted to say thank you for the support given to Michael Blackett, Corey-George's dad, who was from Elsecar and died from cystic fibrosis aged just 26 last October.

The group was joined by staff from the centre who cared for Michael and his family.

Michael's mum, Andrea Blackett, 53, of Church Street, Elsecar, was keen to complete the walk to remember Michael and also to thank staff who were so pivotal in his care.

She said: "We had a fabulous day and are thrilled to have raised more than £1,300 so far.

"It was really special to see Corey-George wearing his sign saying 'I'm walking for my Daddy'. I know Michael would have been so proud of him."
