Pub's Gig Raises Money For BIADS

Tuesday July 29 2014

A GIG at a Barnsley pub raised £500 for a local dementia charity.

Ten bands from the town took part in the event at the Rose and Crown, Worsbrough Common, over the spring bank holiday.

The event was held to raise funds for dementia support charity Barnsley Independent Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support (BIADS).

Landlord Phillip Kaye's father suffers from dementia and was befriended by one of the charity's volunteers, so Phillip wanted to raise funds for BIADS by organising the gig.

He presented Linda Pattison, chief officer of BIADS, with a cheque for £500.

Linda said: "We are so grateful for this donation - without local support we couldn't provide as many services as we do."
