Barnsley Scarlet Fever Cases Remain Low

Wednesday May 14 2014

BARNSLEY has seen fewer than five cases of scarlet fever so far this year - despite a rise in cases across the county.

Public Health England has warned parents to look out for symptoms of the childhood disease after 550 cases were reported in South Yorkshire.

But a spokesman for Public Health Barnsley said figures for Barnsley remained low, and that only eight cases were reported last year.

He advised anyone with concerns to visit their GP.
