Wood Recycling Provides Job Opportunities

Tuesday March 6 2012

By Louise McNicholas

A NEW company has been launched in Barnsley to recycle unwanted wood and create new jobs.

Barnsley Wood Recycling, based at Stairfoot, will be run as a social enterprise, starting with two staff. The aim is to provide opportunities for people who have difficulty in finding work.

A spokesman said: “It is important to realise that our business is about people. Whether we work with wood or plastics or kryptonite it doesn’t matter; it’s all about work-based experience, employment opportunities and training.”

The wood will initially be turned into kindling for fires or cleaned up for re-sale. But the plan is to gradually increase the products available into things such as frames or kids toys.

Barnsley Wood Recycling has been supported by Enterprising Barnsley.
